How we work
Instant House Reading vs a live color analysis
Two ways into Chromara: six photos with Mira Instant, or silk on a live call. They are not the same — and the cheaper one credits toward the fuller one.
What Instant House Reading is
Instant House Reading is a $39.95 online color analysis. You pay on Stripe, then take six guided photos: portrait, face, and one eye in daylight, then the same three in warm indoor light. Mira Ellison’s Instant method — vision when it is available, Chromara guidelines when it is not — returns a House (Vela, Nira, Kora, or Sable), one of twelve types, a mini palette, metals, and what to leave.
It is not a live drape. No Color Icon is holding silk to your jaw. Lighting, makeup, and camera white-balance still move the read. That is why Instant is priced as a first map, not a studio verdict, and why every Instant page carries the same line: the $39.95 fee credits toward a live virtual analysis of $195 or more.
Photos are used only to complete the reading and are deleted within 24–72 hours. You can add an email so we can send the House guide PDF with what to wear.
What a live drape is
A live virtual analysis is sixty minutes on video with a Color Icon. We drape. We watch value, chroma, and undertone change on your face in real time. You leave with a confirmed House, type, and a digital palette you can shop.
Live virtual + wardrobe is ninety minutes and $275. After the drape we pull from what you already own. Pair consults cover two people. In-home visits bring silk and fan decks to your closet — travel quoted after we confirm the city.
The difference is evidence. Instant infers from photographs. A drape tests color on skin. If you have ever been told you are “a Soft Autumn or a Light Spring” and both felt half-right, a drape is how we settle it.
When Instant wins
Instant is the right first move when you want a Chromara House this week, you are shopping a trip or a wedding and need a short list, or you are not ready to spend $195 before you see how we think.
It is also useful as a filter. If Instant lands you in House Vela, you can stop buying icy grey and start testing coral and aqua. If it lands you in House Sable, camel and dusty peach can leave the cart. The mini palette is eight chips, not sixty — enough to shop, not enough to drape a closet.
Six photos beat one selfie. Daylight and warm indoor light keep the House from flipping when you walk from a window to a lamp. That is the whole point of the two-light flow.
When a live drape wins
Book a live virtual when Instant and the free Find quiz disagree, when your hair or brows just changed, when you wear a lot of makeup and need the drape on a clean face, or when you are about to spend real money on a wardrobe.
A drape also wins if you are between Houses. Chromara does not invent extra seasons. You still belong in one of four Houses and one of three types. The Color Icon’s job is to watch the drapes and say which axis is loudest — warm vs cool, light vs deep, clear vs muted — then name the type.
If you already own a packed closet, skip straight to Live virtual + wardrobe. The analysis is the same; the second half is an edit, not a lecture.
The $39.95 credit
Pay Instant. Use the reading. When you book a live virtual of $195 or more, that $39.95 counts toward it. We designed it that way on purpose: Instant should never feel like a dead-end product. It is an on-ramp.
The credit does not apply to fan decks or certification tuition. It applies to live virtual analysis and the wardrobe add-on.
How to start
If you only have twenty minutes, take Instant. If you want a Color Icon on the call, book a live virtual. If you are not sure you are warm or cool, take the free Find quiz first, then Instant, then drape.
Chromara stays the same in all three: four Houses, twelve types, no extra invented seasons.
What you actually receive
Instant returns a House card: name, type, eight-chip mini palette, metals, and a leave list. It also offers an email field so we can send the House guide PDF — what to wear in real garments, not only chips. That PDF is a guide, not a substitute for the sixty-chip fan deck Color Icons drape with.
A live virtual returns the same House language plus a Color Icon’s notes from the drapes you saw on camera. You will hear why a neighbor House lost (for example, why you are Vela Clear and not Kora Warm). You can ask about a specific jacket. You can hold a garment to the jaw while we watch.
Neither product invents a fifth House. If two types are close, we still pick one and tell you what would have made the other win — usually a hair change, a tan, or makeup.
Common mistakes
One selfie in a bathroom mirror is not Instant. Filters, sunglasses, and colored contacts are not Instant. Paying Instant and skipping the warm-indoor set is not Instant; the two lights are the product.
On the live side: booking a drape in a dark room, sitting below the camera, or wearing a red shirt that throws onto the jaw will slow us down. Wear a neckline we can drape against, ideally a mid-value grey or your current “safe” neutral, and give us daylight if you can.
If you only remember one distinction: Instant is a map. A live drape is a fitting. The $39.95 is the map. The $195 is the fitting. The map credits toward the fitting so you never pay twice for the same House.
